Quotiness, er, Artiness, no, NERDINESS!!!!!

Hello!!!
Welp, I honestly haven't really given any thought to what to blog about this week. At first I considered maybe sharing some more of my drawings. But no. Then I thought it would be fun to share with you all some of my favorite quotes and such.
   But no.
   I had a better idea.
I'm going to show you all my collection of nerdy things..... Why? *Shrugs* No clue. Just because I want to, I guess. XP And I would also like to warn you all that this pictures are pretty bad. As in, the quality is not good at all. But oh well. I didn't have time to take good pictures. :D
   Are you ready????
   Then here... We... Goooooo!!!

First off, here's a picture of my beautiful bookshelves made for me by my father. :) I just love them so much!!!!!

To the direct left of my bookshelves is our under-the-stairs-place-thing. AKA, my book nook. Or nerd nook, as I sometime call it. This is what you see when you first walk in....

Here's a close-up of the things along the bottom of the left wall. A little tin garbage can, my Merlin amigurumis, and my Arabian Horse magazines.

My Merlin amis, Arthur, Merlin, and Guinever in the back. Being the prat that we all know and love, Arthur is in the front blocking the view of everyone else....

   MY MAP OF AERWIAR!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

My TH:AUJ poster. ((Pardon the glare)). Along with my dragon egg and a basket of dried flowers.

Here we have my HTTYD book poster, and the Merlin tapestry my good friend Mikaylea made for me. *Waves at Mikaylea in case she's reading this*

   My BotFA and DoS posters....

Here's a little shelf I have in here. On the top is my Captain America action figure that I found in a lake (it's absolutely true!!!), a horse mug, a little Spidey Lego set, a homemade HTTYD frame, and an empty yet unopened Coke can.....
Second shelf is some Korean wooden figures that I LOVE!!!!
Third shelf is some miscellaneous HTTYD stuffs. :)

My mini HTTYD2 poster, a teeny tiney Tadashi picture, and a Smaug doodle thingamajig.

   MY BH6 POSTER!!!!! *Squeals*

This is me blue beanbag chair, where I usually sit. I sometime curl up on the tiny floor as well, because I have this awesome soft, shaggy rug... You can also see my bookmark basket, my Helm's Deep Lego set, and the shelf containing some blankets. Well, a lot of blankets actually....

A close-up of Helm's Deep.....

   My BIG  HTTYD2 poster!!!!!!!

Ah, yes. Here is my collection of HTTYD things. First, you will see my homemade Night Fury shirt, and my Riders of Berk shirt, which is not homemade. :P Then there's my Toothless piggy bank, and my HTTYD books. *Clears throat* I do actually own all of them except book 12, since... It's not out until September. *Sobs*
Anyhow.... Then there's my Lego-type-thing Toothless, my two HTTYD2 coloring books, HTTYD1, GotNF, and HTTYD2, the movie soundtracks, and my ever growing collection of dragon figurines. :) (Thus far I have Toothless, Hookfang, Cloujumper, and the Bewilderbeast)

A closer shot of the books....

   And a close-up of my dragons. :D

Here we have my very small collection of BH6 things. I own the movie, Hiro's Journal *Sobs* ((that book!!! My heart!!)), and a coloring book. I would have more, except Disney still thinks Frozen is the best thing ever... *Growls and grumbles and glowers*

And last but not least, my Marvel collection. There's my Captain America hoodie, which I wear EVERY NIGHT, my Captain America shirt, my Avenger's notebook, my Captain America Pez holder, my Spidey man Lego set (again), and my Captain America action figure (again!!) I might have a small obsession with Captain America, but that's beside the point....
This picture is missing my reallysupercool grey Marvel's Avengers shirt, that's basically this simple lineart of some of the Avengers, and I LOVE IT!!! And also it's missing my amazing giant Captain America mug, WHICH I ALSO LOVE!!!

And that's it!!! Well, I mean, I didn't include all of the things I've made for these fandoms and stuff. And I also have this Hobbit book that talks about the concept art and design....
But alas, I do have to go! I have my final driving test tomorrow for Driver's Ed at like, 9 in the morning and it's starting to get a little late.... Until next time, readers!!!!

"Proud of You" (A Big Hero 6 Fanfiction)

   G'day, readers!
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day and got to spend some time with your mama's and family. :) I did! I could write a long, long blog post about everything my mother does and all of the things she puts up with and how much she still loves us. And I certainly love her for it! But today, I am going to post a fanfiction.
Yes, I am in love with Disney's latest masterpiece, Big Hero 6. IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!! And so, I wrote this fanfiction for it. Any body else watch all the way through to watch the after the credits scene with tears streaming down their face in hope that Tadashi might make a sudden re-appearance?? Well, I did. During said credits, there is a little "scene" I guess you could call it, that shows a bunch of newspaper articles. Some of them depict Big Hero 6 saving and defending the people of San Fransokyo, others hail Hiro's genius. But there was one that showed the grand reopening of the SFIT showcase hall. Or as the newspaper article says, the Tadashi Hamada building. And thus this fanfiction was born....

  Proud of You
A Big Hero 6 Fanfiction

Hiro stared fixedly at his notecards and sucked on his lower lip.
All I have to do is go through this darn speech one time. Just one time and I'll be alright.
He cleared his throat and opened his mouth to begin. Then closed it with a frustrated groan.
It's no use, Aunt Cass! I'll never be able to do this speech. Ever! They're just going to have to get someone else to do it.” He exclaimed, throwing himself onto the couch.
No, no, no, Hiro, don't give up! You can do this, I know you can.” Aunt Cass said from her seat on the other side of the room.
Hiro shook his head miserably.
You have to at least go through it once before you give up. Remember how good you did with your SFIT presentation?”
But that's nothing like this!” Hiro retorted, throwing his hands in the air. “If I mess this up, no one will ever forgive me. Honey Lemon, Wasabi, GoGo, Fred... They will all hate me.”
Hiro dropped his notecards on the ground and buried his head in his hands.
No one is going to hate you.” Aunt Cass laughed, standing up from her chair and walking over to her nephew. She knelt down next to him and began picking up his scattered speech. “And you're not going to mess this up. You're going to be amazing, I promise you.”
Hiro remained silent and didn't move from his position.
Aunt Cass quietly sighed, pushing back a graying strand of hair out of her face. Straightening the gathered notecards, she placed them on the nearest end table and settled down next to Hiro. She stared at the old carpet on the floor as she pursed her lips together thoughtfully.
Hiro, I'm kind of thinking you're not really worried about your friends hating you. Maybe you're more worried about hating yourself if this all goes south.” She looked over at Hiro questioningly.
He shrugged his shoulders.
Oh Hiro, you can't,” Aunt Cass said, circling her arms around Hiro. “You can't do that to yourself over something so silly.”
It's not silly!” He cried, flinging his head up from it's downward position. He quickly turned away, but not before Aunt Cass saw the tears in his eyes.
You're right. It's not.” She said gently, arm still around Hiro's shoulders. “I know how important this is to you. But it really isn't the end of the world if you do mess up. Which you won't.”
She gave his shoulders an encouraging shake. “And even if you do, you know who will still be proud of you?”
She waited for Hiro to reply. He nodded slowly, still unwilling to speak.
I'll be proud of you, and your friends will be proud of you. But the one who'll be the proudest of us all is your brother. If Tadashi could see you now, he would be...”
She paused, lifting her gaze to the ceiling as she searched for the right word. “He would be exploding with pride! You always meant so much to him, Hiro, more than anything in the world. I know he's so happy for you, and so, so, proud of you. You know that, right?”
Hiro glanced over at her and nodded.
Do you really know?” She demanded, squeezing his body against hers and tousling his thick black hair.
Yes, I know! I know!” He said, a smile tugging at his mouth as he pulled out of her grip. He finger combed his hair, glaring at her teasingly as he sniffed back his tears.
Good thing.” Aunt Cass said, smiling tenderly at him. She gave him another hug before handing him his notecards back.
You'd better get to work.” She urged. Hiro got up with a playful groan and took the offered notecards from Aunt Cass.
Let's try this again.” He said.

* * * *

Why are there so many people?” Hiro asked, eyes wandering restlessly over the enormous crowd assembled before him.
Why wouldn't there be?” GoGo replied, putting a hand on her hip. “The showcase fire affected pretty much everyone in the entire city. I think that the grand re-opening is something they're going to want to see.”
Don't be so hard on him, GoGo. He's just nervous.” Honey Lemon said, putting a hand on Hiro's head and smiling widely at him. He tried to smile back, but it ended up looking more like a grimace.
You'll be fine, Hiro.” Wasabi said, looking down at Hiro encouragingly.
Yeah man, don't sweat it. You're going to be awesome up there.” Fred added. He patted Hiro on the back.
Thanks guys.” Hiro croaked, trying to give them all a better smile.
The audience began to clap, and Hiro realized with a start that the speaker before him had finished.
Thank you for that lovely speech, Professor Kantz.” The announcer's voice echoed over the loudspeakers. “At this time we would like to ask Hiro Hamada to come to the stage and present the dedication speech.”
Hiro's face paled. With shaking fingers, he straightened his suit jacket and pulled his notecards out of his pocket.
Here it goes.” He muttered, giving his friends a pleading glance. He so badly wanted one of them to jump up on the stage and do this speech for him. But no one was volunteering.
Don't be such a sissy, Hiro.” GoGo said, the sincerity in her eyes undermining her hard words.
Honey Lemon gave him a hug and a peck on the cheek. The rest of the team patted him on the back and offered a few hurried whispers of encouragement.
Hiro took a deep breath and after glancing back at his friends one more time, walked up the three steps that led to the raised platform.
He took another slow, deep breath to try and calm his fluttering nerves as he approached the podium. As he stood behind it, he couldn't help but notice it had been lowered to accommodate his height. He appreciated the thought, but he could feel the tips of his ears turning red in embarrassment and he thought he heard someone in the audience titter. This wasn't exactly the start he had been hoping for, but it was the one he had been expecting.
Aunt Cass sat in the front aisle in the center of the row. She gave him a thumbs up from her seat and mouthed the words, “You can do it.”
Hiro settled the notecards of his speech on the stand as he timidly looked up at the rest of the audience. Hundreds of people stared back at him expectantly. Hiro gulped.
How in the world am I supposed to make a good impression on all of these people? He thought to himself, fear paralyzing him for a moment.
But then Aunt Cass' words came back to him. She had said that no matter what happened, she would still be proud of him, and his friends would too. And most importantly, so would Tadashi. In the end, it didn't matter what all of those other people thought as long as the people close to him were proud.
Clearing his throat, Hiro adjusted the microphone and began.
My name is Hiro. Tadashi Hamada was my older brother. And in case you didn't know, this building is dedicated to him.”
Hiro's voice rang out clearly over the sound system. Something about this made him feel a little more confident, and he continued.
One year ago, the showcase hall for San Fransokyo Institute of Technology burned to the ground. Millions of dollars worth of tech burned with it, some of which was mine. But that wasn't the only thing the fire took.
Everyone got out of the building safely aside from some smoke inhalation. Everyone, that is, except for one man. My brother, who wasn't even inside when the fire started, ran into the burning building to try and save this man's life. But then there was an explosion, and Tadashi...” Hiro's voice cracked.
Tadashi didn't make it out.”
He paused. Hiro took a shaky breath, furiously trying to blink the tears out of his eyes.
Don't break down, Hiro. He told himself. Just get through this.
What my brother did was an act of heroism and selflessness that I can't even comprehend. Tadashi willingly gave himself up for someone else. That was how much he valued life. That was how brave and selfless he was. And this building is dedicated to him.”
Hiro looked down at his notecards for what to say next. But what he had written down didn't feel right. He wrestled for with what to do, and made the split-second decision to speak from his heart.
What I'm trying to say, is that the inventions and tech the students at this college are putting here, myself included, are going to affect people. Through our inventions, we have the opportunity to help people, to make a difference in the world. Some of you already have. Tadashi supported SFIT as much as he did because he believed in that. He believed with all his heart we could do that. And I believe it to.”
Hiro stepped out from behind the podium. “So not only is this building dedicated to Tadashi, but also to the dreams of all the students here and the changes they're going to make in the world. This building is dedicated to their bravery, and their effort, and their endless hope. This building is dedicated to the future.”
Hiro looked behind him and nodded at the workers standing on stage. They heaved on the ropes holding back the red curtain at the back of the stage to reveal the beginnings of the brand new SFIT showcase hall. Rising up on the side was a pillar of stone with a shining plaque on it. On that plaque were the words “Tadashi Hamada Building; dedicated to young men and women with the hearts of lions beating in their chests.”
The crowd began to cheer and clap wildly and they all stood to their feet. Many of them were wiping tears from their eyes and Hiro looked at them in surprise. Never in all of the many different endings he had thought up in his head had he envisioned a reaction like this.
Aunt Cass caught Hiro's gaze and she smiled at him. Tears glistened in her proud eyes, and Hiro realized that she had never expected anything less. None of his friends had expected less either. All Aunt Cass did was nod at him, but Hiro understood what she meant. He smiled a real smile back at her and looked over at the showcase hall. Hiro knew now that they weren't the only ones who were proud of him.
He could almost feel a grinning Tadashi standing next to him, giving him a punch on the shoulder and saying, “Good job, Hiro. I knew you could do it.”
Hiro smiled wistfully.

   “Thanks Tadashi.” He whispered.

Thank you all SO VERY MUCH  for reading this!!!! Literally no one else besides myself has laid eyes on it before this, so comments and critiques are more than welcome!!! Thank you all again and have a great week!
MR

P.S. I've included a super fast doodle of Hiro as my cover picture. The reason he looks older than he does in the movie is because a.) in my fanfiction he is and b.) It is too late and I'm am too tired to fix him. XP

Free Merlin and Arthur Crochet patterns!!!

   Good evening!
So, I found this awesome BBC television show via Pinterest that I have thoroughly fallen in love with. It has everything I could possibly want in it. Knights, swordfights, dragons and plenty of good, clean magic. It's name is... MERLIN! Yes, BBC's Merlin is absolutely my favorite TV show of all time ever. E-V-E-R. I love it so much, that I, being the nerdy crocheter that I am, decided to crochet a Merlin amigurumi. But, there is a surprisingly small amount of free crochet Merlin patterns out there. And, I have grown to quite enjoy making my own patterns. So I present to you my FREE crochet pattern for not just Merlin, but also the king himself, Arthur Pendragon!

Ta da!! Here's a picture of both of them. :) ((Unfortunately, the picture quality isn't very good. I'm not a photographer, just a crocheter!))

But, you are probably looking for your free patterns. And I shall give it to you, but not after I issue a warning. I haven't actually shared any of my patterns before, so there might be a few mistakes. If you happen to notice any, please let me know so I can fix them. :)

Pattern number one:

Merlin

Materials
Worsted weight yarn in the following colors: Tan, dk. brown, color for shirt (Red, blue, purple), lt. brown, black. Small amounts of white, brown, and color for scarf (dark blue or red).
Size F hook
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker (optional)
Black 9mm safety eyes

* BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING *
You are going to need to do some preparation for his hair. Get some black yarn and wrap it around something that is between 3-5” long roughly 150 times. I actually used a book that was about 8 or 10 inches, and his hair was very long and required a lot of unnecessary cutting. Mind that you don't use something too small, or you won't be able to cut it correctly. Next, you are going to cut the strand connecting the yarn to the skein, then unwrap the yarn from whatever you used. DO NOT CUT THE YARN FROM THE OBJECT AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD AT THIS POINT WITH NON-CURLY HAIR. Then you are going to take your F hook and, using the yarn you wrapped, crochet a square of whatever size you feel like until you run out of cut yarn. After you've done this, take your square and wet it thoroughly. Now you have to hang it up somewhere and let it dry. ((It took a little while for this to dry for me (about a day), so I got impatient and took a hair dryer to it. After that didn't work, I stuck it in the dryer for ten minutes and voila! All dry! So don't be afraid to use these methods, because they do work.)) Doing this will make his hair curly. Now you can start your Merlin!

(Make 2)

Assembly and Such

Put on jacket. No need to sew it on, just in case Merlin gets hot and wants to take it off. :) Now sew the ears on. I attached them near the front of his shoulder and about five rows up from where his head joins his body. I sewed the second ear about 15 sts on the other side of his head.
Next is his hair. After your square is dry, unravel the entire thing. The yarn should now be curly and bouncy! Then you are going to re-wrap it around the same 3-5” thing, but when you are finished, you are going to cut all of the yarn in half like you would normally do. Now you're going to sew the hair on. I used this ( http://amiguru.tumblr.com/post/84454254398/doll-hair-tutorial-bilbo-edition ) tutorial I found for attaching the hair. But I didn't separate the yarn like she did, since the yarn was already curly. Of course, feel free to do what she did! I just wanted to go for a thicker look with Merlin's hair. Just kind of follow the picture for attaching it. Next, you have to cut it. Be careful with this, because if you cut it too short, there is no going back! I kind of layered it so that it was a little bit longer on the bottom than on the top. I also left a little more length on the hair in front of his ears to give him some sideburns. :) And I cut the hair on his forehead and on top and behind his ears a little shorter than the rest of his head.
If you'd like to, you can make a little indentation on his face for to suggest his cheekbones. Just take some tan yarn and sew a little st directly below and one st over from his ear on both sides. You can make it a little bigger or smaller or not even do it at all!

And there you go, little Merlin all done!

Belt

With dk brown, ch 50, FO. You aren't going to sew the belt on. That way, when you take his armor off, you cant take the belt off too and tie it to his shirt. :)

Excalibur

I used the sword pattern I found on this website (http://www.oneandtwocompany.com/workshop/free_medieval.html ) for Excalibur but I made a few changes and additions. Instead of using brown yarn for the hilt, I used black. I then took a piece of gold sport weight yarn and wrapped it around the hilt of the sword in an X pattern. Then using two strands of the same golden sport weight, Ch7, slst in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing, and repeat. These little strips will represent the golden inscription on Excalibur. Sew the gold strips onto either side of the sword.

Ears
(Make 2)

With tan, ch2, sc4 in 2nd ch from hook. FO leaving long tail for sewing. Sew ears four stitches over from eyes on either side of head.

Cape

Row 1: With red, ch25, dc in 3rd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 2, turn (23)
Row 2-10: Dc in each dc across, ch2, turn.
Fasten off. Cut out the Pendragon symbol from yellow material. ((I just used Google images to find a good reference and free-handed it)). Using Tacky glue, attach the symbol to the front left side of the cape.

Cape Latch

Join dk brown yarn to top right corner of cape .Ch8, slst in 5th ch from hook and in each remaining ch. Slst to join, fasten off. Sew gold button to other side of cape.

Crown

With lt gold, ch 51. Slst in first ch to join. Ch1, * sc in next 5 sts, (Hdc, dc, picot, hdc) in next st * around to last five sts. Sc in last five sts. In first sc of rnd, hdc, dc, picot, dc. Slst in next st and fasten off.

Hair and Assembly

Put the chainmail on Arthur and tie the belt around his waist. Then slide Excalibur into the belt, and button the cape around his shoulders. Now you have to do his hair. First, you will wrap your golden/blonde yarn around a 3-5” object about 150 times. Now cut the yarn down the center. I used this tutorial for attaching the hair, but I didn't split the yarn into two parts since Arthur doesn't have curly hair. :) (http://amiguru.tumblr.com/post/84454254398/doll-hair-tutorial-bilbo-edition) When you cut his hair, I did the same thing I did with Merlin's and cut it in layers, as you can probably see in the picture. Although, I think Arthur's hair would have looked better if I hadn't done that and kept it all kind of one length. But, you do whatever you think looks best when cutting it. :) Oh, and remember that Arthur's ears aren't quite as big as Merlin's, so don't cut as much hair around them as you did with Merlin. When you're all finished with that, put the crown on his head, and embroider his lips on. I used a lighter pink on Arthur then I did on Merlin. I also made his smile a little crooked. :)
And there you go! Little Arthur is all done and ready to go!

Well, there you have it! A little Merlin and Arthur pattern just for you. I hope you enjoy it, and that it makes some semblance of sense. :) I hope to work on a pattern for Guinevere, Morgana, and possibly Freya next.
Until next time!
